iCloud Tips & Tricks: Make Your Life Easier

Lots of useful iCloud tips are listed here to simplify the ways to use iCloud on your iPhone/iPad/Mac.

Different Opinions towards iCloud Usage

Whether iCloud is useful or not depends on different users’ experiences. There are various ideas about iCloud usage.

The real advantage to iCloud is that, in theory, your data is always accessible...no computer needed. Backing up to iTunes requires access to the computer you use for that purpose if you ever need to restore your data. You do one or the other, not both at the same time.

Personally, I love iCloud for one reason and one reason only: Find My iPhone. You would not believe how many times I have lost an Apple device and found it in the strangest places.

Manage iCloud Storage and Backups

In iTunes you can set the specific iOS device to create backups either on your computer or on iCloud. There is no "syncing," as this is a one-way save of your data either way. One saves the data to your own computer, the other saves it to the iCloud service (where it is more secure).

In my opinion it still lacks a lot of features. iCloud drive should have a dedicated app for file management and also the ability to save files directly on the device so they're available offline.
It's pretty senseless to store all your important files in iCloud but can't access them when you're on a train or in an area with bad signal. I still hope there will be an update and more features soon. Right now Google Drive fulfills all my needs.
