STEP 1 Connect Android Phone/Tablet to Computer

Launch FonePaw Android Data Recovery on your PC, with USB cable, connect your Android devices to computer.

STEP 2 Enable USB Debugging on Android Devices

If the USB debugging on your phone/tablet is off, there will be prompt on the FonePaw program guiding you to turn it on. Follow the instruction according to the Android version of your device to turn it on. If the USB debugging is already on, the program will skip the step.

STEP 3 Choose SMS Messages to Scan

Before the program begins scanning files on the device, you need to choose file type to scan. In your case, tick only "Messages" and "Message Attachment", click "Next" so that the scanning time can be shortened.

STEP 4 Allow the Program to Access Your Android Phone/ Tablet

To scan the deleted files, the FonePaw program will try to access the Android device. Therefore, follow the instruction on the program and tap "Allow/Grant/Authorize" on the device. If you only need to view the existing messages, it's okay that the program doesn't get permission and click “Continue Scanning” to scan the existing messages on the device.

After the scanning is completed, click "Messages" on the left bar to preview the messages. Red texts mean that the texts have been deleted from your Android device. Texts in black are the existing messages on the phone. Tick the text messages you would like to save on computer and click "Recover". The messages will be saved in the folder that you choose.
