It is a convenient way for us to sync or backup iPhone contacts by exporting contacts from iCloud. Recently, however, some users report that they can't export vCard from iCloud. I've also tried to export phone numbers from iCloud on Chrome and IE, but both failed. After an hour research, I found three possible ways to download contacts from iCloud successfully.
Solution 1: Download Contacts from iCloud Directly
In this way, you need the help of an application called FonePaw iPhone Data Recovery. I recommend this way in first place because FonePaw iOS Transfer can help you mange iPhone contacts in an easy way. In addition to export iPhone contacts to vCard file, this tool can also export iPhone contacts to CSV file. Better still, the features of the program we list below might surprise you.
✔ Transfer contacts from iPhone to PC/Mac, vice versa.
✔ Recover the deleted contacts from iPhone to iPhone, iPhone to iPad, iPad to iPad, etc.
✔ Support to extract other data types, like photos, videos, messages and more.
✔ Backup and restore iPhone with one click.
Why not download the free trial version of the program on your computer to save your time on managing iPhone contacts?
1. Connect iPhone to your Windows or Mac computer
After downloading the program on your computer, launch it right away. Then, connect your iPhone XS/X/8/7, etc. to the computer with a USB cable to extract contacts from device. (If it's not detected, click Computer cannot recognize iPhone?) To download phone numbers from iCloud backup, you don't need to connect device, and just Move to "Recover from iCloud Backup File" to sign in.
2. Export iPhone contacts as vCard
Select certain backup files and download it to PC. Then scan the backup to preview contacts. To save iPhone contacts as vCard on your computer, just click "Contacts" in the left panel of the program. Then, tick all the contacts you'd like to download or export. Afterwards, click "Recover" button to save the phone book on PC, which will be saved in VCF, CSV, HTML format.
Note: There are 3 formats you can choose to view on PC, just select what you need to print it out.
Solution 2: Switch your Web Browser to Safari or Firefox
It appears that the "iCloud not exporting contacts" issue only happened in certain web browsers. Google Chrome and IE are two of them. Now, you can try Apple Safari or Firefox as the web browser when visiting the iCloud website. You are likely to solve the problem.
Solution 3. Download vCard from iCloud with a Trick
Perhaps some of you don't want to change web browser, and now here is a trick that may help you export contacts from iCloud on Chrome.
Step 1. Log into your iCloud account.
Step 2. Go to "Contacts" and click the gear icon on the bottom left.
Step 3. Open "Preferences" but change nothing. Then, click "Save."
Step 4. The "Export vCard" function now works.
Which method do you like most? In my opinion, if you need a tool to find your iPhone files, including contacts, music, photos, videos, SMS, etc., FonePaw iPhone Data Recovery is the best bet. This tool helps you get rid of cumbersome iTunes and organize your iOS device files in a much more straightforward way.
