By Emily Watson, Friday, August 25, 2017

To transfer a file with .csv extension is not a common use, for most CSVs we encounter are those of contacts/phone numbers we exported in advance from other sources like Contacts Recovery, Contacts Transfer, Outlook, Gmail or so. If you're in need of transferring CSVs to your iPhone 7/7 Plus, 6S/6S Plus and former, here's a good way to go.

Don't Miss Out:

Part 1: What is A CSV File?

CSV stands for "Comma Separated Values". It is a type of file formats to save data in a table structured format, such as a spreadsheet or database in which information separated by commas. A CSV file usually ends with .csv extension. A CSV file cannot contain any cell, column, row styling or formulas, but it works with any spreadsheet program, such as Microsoft Excel, Open Office Calc, or Google Spreadsheets.

Part 2: How to Create A CSV File?

If necessary, it's easy to create a CSV file on your computer via following steps.

Step 1. Open a file in spreadsheet program like Microsoft Excel.

Step 2. Select "File" and click on "Save As" option.

Step 3. In the pop-up, please select "CSV (Comma delimited)" under "Save as type" column.

Note: CSVs support no formatting or formulas. If you see an error "may contain features that are not compatible with CSV", please click "Yes" to proceed.
