By Carrie Murray, Wednesday, April 04, 2018

By turning on iCloud Music Library, you can access your entire music collection on Apple Music across iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, Mac, or PC. Here we will tell you how to enable iCloud Music Library so that you can access your music library on all devices.

And if you get the error saying "iCloud Music Library can't be enabled", this post will show you how to fix the error as well.

Also, if you want to use Apple Music without iCloud Music Library, you can turn off iCloud Music Library on PC, iPhone, Mac, iPad, iPod Touch anytime you want.

NOTE: iCloud Music Library is a service to store music from Apple Music and iTunes Match to iCloud, but it is not a backup service. When you turn it off, all your downloaded music will be deleted. Therefore, before enabling iCloud Music Library, it is important to do a backup of music saved locally on your iPhone/iPad/iPod, PC, and Mac.

How to Enable iCloud Music Library?

To enable iCloud Music Library on iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, Mac or PC, you need to sign in to all your devices with the same Apple ID that you use for Apple Music subscription.

Can't Enable iCloud Music Library

You can follow the steps here to fix the problem.

STEP 1: Firstly, go to Settings > Apple ID, and make sure you have logged into the right iCloud account.

STEP 2: Go back to Settings and choose Music.

STEP 3: Toggle iCloud Music Library to on. When it asks whether to keep your local music, tap Keep Music or Delete & Replace your library.

STEP 4: If the error continues, repeat step 2-3 till it works.

NOTE: You'd better wait for a while every time when you repeat the steps in case the server shuts down. If the above method doesn't work, you can back up your iPhone to iTunes and then restore the backup you just make to stop the error. The method is effective especially when iCloud Music Library can't be enabled after iOS 11 update or downgrading. Check how to backup and restore iPhone with iTunes
