How Can I Manage WhatsApp Account on Android

WhatsApp is no doubt a great chat app for messaging and video call. However, users could have questions about managing their WhatsApp accounts on Android phone. For example, how can I create an account without mobile number or SIM card? Can I use old WhatsApp account with a new SIM card? Or can I manage two WhatsApp accounts in a same phone? These question will be answered in the post.

Part 1. Create WhatsApp Account With/Without SIM Card

Creating WhatsApp account on a device with SIM card is simple. Just in case that you are not familiar with the process, we'll walk you through.

Steps to Create WhatsApp Account With SIM Card

Step 1. Download and install WhatsApp from Google Play store or WhatsaApp.com.

Step 2. Launch the app, tap "Agree and Continue".

Step 3. Select your country and enter your phone number to verify.

Step 4. WhatsApp will send you verification code via message. Enter the code you just receive.

Step 5. You are good to go.

Steps to Create WhatsApp Account Without SIM Card

We may have a phone or tablet with no SIM card inserted. Can we use WhatsApp on the phone or tablet? Actually, we can. You have two options:

  • Use apps that can get SMS, calls over Wi-Fi to verify your WhatsApp account;

  • Verify Whatapp account with landline number. Instead of SMS verfication, tap "Call me" to get a call from WhatsApp with the verification code.

Note: The latter may not work on some country and area. Just have a try and see if it will work for you.

Part 2. Use Old WhatsApp Account With New SIM Card

If you switch your phone number or switch to new phone with a new phone number. You can change number associated with your WhatsApp account and continue to use the old WhatsApp account.

If you are still using the same phone but with a different phone number:

Step 1. Launch WhatsApp.

Step 2. Tap menu button > "Settings" > "Account" > "Change number".

Step 3. Enter the number currently verified on your WhatsApp accunt.

Step 4. Enter your new phone number.

Step 5. Complete the verification process.

Step 6. You account information, groups and settings will be migrated from your old phone number to your new phone number. And your contacts will no longer see your old phone number in their WhatsApp contact lists.

If you switch to to new phone but with a different phone number:

Step 1. Complete the Change number process above in your old phone.

Step 2. In order to move your chat history from old phone to new phone so you can catch up the last chat, backup WhatsApp on your old phone to Google Drive: tap "Settings" > "Chats" > "Chat backup" > "Backup".

Step 3. Delete WhatsApp account on your old phone.

Step 4. On the new phone, install and open WhatsApp. Sign in with your new phone number.

Step 5. After you verify the number, you'll be ask whether to restore a backup. Click "Restore".

Part 3. Can I Manage Two WhatsApp Accoutns in Same Phone?

WhatsApp only allows users to use one account with one phone number verified on one device. If you frequently switch your account between different devices and numbers, WhatsApp warns that you'll be blocked from re-verify your account at some point.

This is a big drawback of WhatsApp because many users may need various accounts to handle business or something. Therefore, many third-party WhatsApp applications comes up and fill up the gap, helping you managing two accounts in one phone. You can find the kind of apps directly from Google Play store. Some of them are paid apps.
